A €15,000 prize and 6 prestigious awards assigned by an international jury: the DIG Awards, one of Europe’s biggest competitions devoted to celebrate the best in video journalism, is making a comeback—but there’s only a little more than two weeks left to apply.

The 2020 application window will close on May 31st for all DIG Awards categories (except the Pitch). You still have time to submit your work, getting the chance for your work to be selected among the finalists and screened during the festival – which will take place from October 8 to October 11, 2020 in Modena, Italy – to an audience of documentary and journalism lovers.

Applying is free of charge. The submissions remain open for all 6 categories, which include: Investigative (Long and Medium), Reportage (Long and Medium), Shorts, and Audio—this one being a new category, dedicated to podcasts and radio series that have an investigative, journalistic approach. All details regarding the application and how to apply can be found at this link.

There is time until June 21st to apply for the DIG Pitch, a special category open only to projects that are in progress and yet unpublished. The Pitch assigns a prize up to €15,000 with the goal of sustaining the production of the documentary to its completion. The Pitch also gives young and ambitious filmmakers, producers and journalists the opportunity to network with some of the most important international broadcasters, such as BBC, Arte, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, Rai, Sky and others.

DIG Awards reward journalistic excellence and encourage the work of reporters who investigate topics that have social, economic, technological, environmental and political relevance. The call is open to video and audio productions from television networks, print and online publications, platforms, radios, collectives, agencies, consortia, associations, institutions and freelancers. We welcome projects that have been released or published after January 1st, 2019.
