DIG Festival 2023: Don’t give up. Opening dialogue. Can we still change the world?
With Luciana Castellina, Eddi Marcucci
21 September 19:00 - 20:30

FREE ENTRY
This year’s opening of the Festival is a dialogue between Luciana Castellina and Eddi Marcucci, two Italian women who, in different ways and at different historical stages, have put their lives in the service of an ideal.
Eddi Marcucci in 2019 joined the Ypj, the female fighting units founded in 2013 in Rojava (Kurdistan). Luciana Castellina, since the beginning of the last century, has been an example of political struggle, with her life spent first in the Communist Party and then in the founding nucleus of the newspaper Il Manifesto and finally as a journalist, politician and MEP.
In keeping with Dig 2023’s theme “Don’t Give Up,” in their dialogue, Marcucci and Castellina will take turns in a discussion that touches on past and present, spans inside and outside Italy, raises questions on how to break out of today’s general torpor and, ultimately, what we can still do to change the broken world we live in.
During the opening night of DIG Festival, we will present the Audio and Video juries of the DIG Awards and the programme of the event. Authorities from the City of Modena and the Emilia-Romagna Region will also speak on stage.
