DIG Talks
Stripping Gaza. Documenting Palestine under occupation
With Maria Chiara Rioli, Avi Mograbi, Mona Shtaya, Margherita Pescetti
24 September 2022 16:00 - 17:30

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DHIALOGUE
How does the military occupation of the Palestinian territories work? What means do activists and journalists have at their disposal to document the colonialist forces’ violation of human rights? In this meeting we will try to draw an authentic portrait of the daily difficulties of those living in the occupied territories in Gaza and in the West Bank, analyzing the field work of reporters and NGOs trying to report on the conflict on a day-to-day basis, with a focus on digital techniques of investigation and the use of media as a political tool. Renowned Israeli filmmaker Avi Mograbi, Palestinian digital rights activist Mona Shtaya and researcher Maria Chiara Rioli (Unimore) discuss this with Margherita Pescetti, documentary filmmaker.
This event stems from a collaboration between DIG and DHIALOGUE, a project on Digital Humanities organized by Unimore – University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The event is part of the schedule of the first edition of SUMMER DHIALOGUES, many appointments with personalities from the world of culture, art, research and journalism.
