Cross-border investigative journalism, the toolbox

How is enquiry done at local and transnational level? What are the basic tools? How do you work in collaboration with multiple news outlets from different parts of the world? Taking the example of the international collaborative projects NarcoFiles, DubaiUnlocked and Desert Dumps and others, this course of IrpiMedia, a publication of the IRPI centre for investigative journalism, explains a number of useful tools for investigation: how to track ships and maritime companies, how to consult business and land registers and how to make sense of this data, or how to find information through social media and FOIA.
