Borena, the land without rain. Climate change in a podcast

Journalist Valerio Nicolosi’s journey to Ethiopia tells the stories of survival in the face of vanishing rains. In conversation with Angelo Miotto, journalist and chair of the Audio Jury of the DIG Awards 2025, Nicolosi retraces the motivations and encounters that shaped this LifeGate production in collaboration with Cesvi. Since 2021, the region has faced one of the most severe droughts in its history, with five consecutive rainy seasons bringing almost no precipitation. The absence of water has led to the gradual disappearance of livestock, the main source of livelihood for communities that have now lost everything and suffer from malnutrition.
