DESCRIPTION

DIG Festival 2025 brings three major exhibitions to Modena, all free and open to the public, showcasing the urgent work of both established and emerging photojournalists and artists. Admission is free during the opening hours listed below.

Occupied Territories.

Photography exhibition by Fabio Bucciarelli
San Carlo College, Cardinals Hall
⏲ Open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
— In collaboration with WARM Festival Sarajevo

Award-winning photographer Fabio Bucciarelli, known for his work in conflict zones, presents the Italian premiere of his exhibition Occupied Territories: Stories from The West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon at DIG Festival 2025. The show is an archive of memory and testimony, the result of more than ten years of fieldwork (2013–2024) across Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.

ATAK: Still Life / DEM: Beyond Worlds

Complesso San Paolo, Chiesa e Sala delle Monache
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
— In collaboration with D406, curated by Andrea Losavio

For the first time, the symbol of DIG Festival—the Watchdog—doubles up, thanks to the participation of two internationally renowned artists, DEM and ATAK, who bring to Modena a dual solo exhibition. With works dedicated to the icons of contemporary music, Berlin-based ATAK presents Still Leben. In Oltremondi, Italian artist DEM showcases ink drawings, ceramic and wooden sculptures, and masks in fabric and metal, a testament to his eccentric and extraordinary creative versatility. The dual exhibition will remain on view in Modena until October 19.

WITNESSES/01

Headquarters DIG Association, Via Santa Chiara 14
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
— Curated by Stefano Ricci

This exhibition showcases works created by students of the Illustration for Publishing course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. The project highlights and transforms into images the stories of Ahmed Ben Nessib, Alberto Nerazzini, Majid Bita, and Amir Rmedi, who were invited as guest speakers in the course. Starting from key moments in their lives—shared as personal testimonies and developed in dialogue with the students—these narratives have been reimagined and take visual form in the illustrations on display.
