DIG Pitch «Matteo Scanni» 2026. The truth is still burning

Live session in English with the finalist teams and the international jury of the DIG Awards 2026. Hosted by journalist and producer Susanne Reber. Welcome remarks by Alberto Nerazzini (DIG)

On the stage of the Teatro San Carlo, the finalist teams in the DIG Pitch category will present their video projects to the DIG Awards jury, seated just a few steps away, and to a high-profile audience of international industry experts.

An intense, breathless, and adrenaline-fueled international-style pitch hosted by Susanne Reber, a veteran of documentary production and investigative journalism, will lead the proceedings.

At stake for the winning work is a production grant (up to €15,000) provided by the Matteo Scanni Foundation, named since 2024 in honor of the historic founder and president of DIG who passed away in 2022. The Matteo Scanni Foundation is an independent non-profit organization, created by former friends and colleagues of Matteo.

The purpose of the funding is to support an investigative video project or reportage in the development or pre-production stage. For all others, it represents an opportunity to be discovered by international broadcasters, production companies, and talent scouts.

During the "sacred ceremony" of the Pitch, the authors of the finalist projects will have 5 minutes to present the idea behind their documentaries in English and 3 minutes to show a teaser video with English subtitles presenting the theme, characters, setting, and style of the story.

The presentation will be followed by a series of questions from the jurors. In addition to the quality and originality of the subject, its relevance, and execution, the jury will also consider the financial sustainability of the project. Admission is free.

The winning project will be announced during the DIG Awards ceremony on Saturday the 26th at 9:00 PM at the Laboratorio Aperto in Modena. Discretion during the Pitch is mandatory. During the session, sharing images or sensitive information about the participating projects will not be allowed.
