Filmmaker Ed Ou of The Outlaw Ocean Project spent three weeks aboard a rescue ship trying to save the lives of migrants crossing the sea from Africa to Europe, while the Libyan Coast Guard was fighting to turn them back. This report, produced by The Outlaw Ocean Project in collaboration with the Guardian, exposes the dramatic situation of trafficking between Africa and Europe: the constant threat of the Coast Guard, the lack of life jackets for people in danger, the fear of being sent back to the hell of Libyan detention centers. The documentary exposes Europe’s responsibility for refugees for the umpteenth time and reveals the desperation behind so-called “death journeys.”
