On 27 February 2015, Boris Nemtsov, one of Russia's leading political dissidents, was murdered on a bridge within walking distance of the Kremlin. Five men were convicted for his murder, but the instigator has never been clarified. Who was Boris Nemtsov and why was he killed?
This joint investigation by Bellingcat, The Insider and BBC Eye attempts to answer these questions through the analysis of many archival materials and the testimony of Nemtsov's friends and colleagues, revealing that in the year before his murder Nemstov was being stalked by agents linked to Russian intelligence services.
