Sex for Work: the True Cost of Our Tea

PRODUCTION: BBC Africa Eye
COUNTRY: UK
YEAR: 2023
LENGTH: 50′
MADE BY: Seamus Mirodan

This investigation uncovers the sexual abuse taking place on Kenyan farms from which some of the UK's most famous tea brands - such as Lipton, Starbucks and Sainsbury's - are sourced and which are owned by the British multinationals Unilever and Finlay's.

In the documentary, made by BBC Africa Eye and Panorama, an undercover Kenyan reporter reveals how managers pressure female employees to have sex with them in exchange for work on the plantations.
