Al Hassan Selmi, a 32-year-old journalist, was forced to leave Gaza City, separating from his parents, too old and frail to move. Fatena Mohanna, a 25-year-old photographer, chose instead to remain with her family throughout the conflict. On January 19, 2025, after fifteen exhausting months of bombardments, a temporary ceasefire was declared. Both Palestinians found themselves suspended between lingering fears and fragile hopes, Hassan’s, for instance, of one day returning home. But the truce proved tenuous, and as the filmmakers of Gaza.
