In just four days, between March 6 and 10, 2025, a sudden wave of violence swept through Syria. The attacks, carried out mainly against Alawite communities linked to former president Bashar al-Assad, were condemned by the UN as “war crimes”: killings, torture, desecration of bodies, looting, and arson, much of it captured in photos and videos circulated on social media. Through an open-source investigation, the Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) and the Syrian Archive team verified hundreds of these videos and analyzed first-hand accounts, exposing the full extent of the atrocities inflicted on thousands of innocent civilians.
