The Hamas attack in Israel on 7 October transformed the balance in the Middle East and triggered a retaliation by Israel that we are still witnessing. Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit analysed the events of that day, reviewing seven hours of footage from surveillance cameras, phones and video cameras mounted on the vehicles or helmets of Hamas fighters. The investigation established the atrocities and crimes committed by Hamas, but also revealed how some of the most shocking stories that emerged in the days following the attack were false. In particular, the accounts of atrocities wielded by politicians in Israel and the West to justify the intensity of the bombing of the Gaza Strip, including the mass killings of children and allegations of systemic rape, proved unfounded. «October 7» offers an in-depth analysis of the events that led to the deaths of thousands of people, with consequences that will weigh for decades.
