Songs from Inside tells the true story of Nasim, Rezvaneh, and Vida, three women imprisoned in Iran’s Evin Prison for taking part in protests against the compulsory hijab and in defense of women’s rights. Blending animation with the voice of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, herself a former detainee, the documentary offers an intimate and powerful portrait of the suffering and hopes of these three prisoners, trapped between life and death in the darkness of captivity, clinging to the dream of reuniting with their families and to their determination to keep fighting for a freer, more just Iran.
