Multinational corporations generate over three trillion dollars in profits every year, but they are masters at diverting these profits to tax havens to avoid paying taxes. A team of experts from the Independent Commission for the Reform of International Corporate Taxation (ICRICT) has succeeded in investigating the violations of the leading players in the global economy: "Tax Wars" recounts the struggle and victories of these knights of tax justice against the multinationals' empire. This reportage takes us behind the scenes of an essential battle to give governments the resources they need to fight inequality, finance public services and tackle climate change. Combining footage shot on four continents and animations inspired by the Star Wars universe, this documentary tells the story of how ICRICT succeeded in imposing a first major global measure, leading 136 countries to reach an agreement on a minimum taxation of 15% on multinational corporations' profits.
