On January 19, 2025, a ceasefire took effect in Gaza. Just hours later, the occupied West Bank witnessed a historic exchange of Palestinian prisoners for Israeli hostages. In Ramallah, families waited through the night for the releases, a rare moment of joy for the population, overseen by Hamas forces. Yet while Palestinians view the freed detainees as political prisoners, Israelis regard them as terrorists. The truce, however, proved fragile, as confirmed by Operation Iron Wall, launched by the IDF in the weeks that followed across the West Bank.
