Rightwing populists are on the rise across Europe. Before European parliamentary elections, they have been offered help from Donald Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon. The Guardian’s Paul Lewis followed his operation in Brussels, Rome and Venice – challenging Bannon over his media hype and the legality of his intervention.
