Marcel Ozan Riedel has been working as a freelance editor since 2009, specializing in documentary film. His background in editing, cinematography, sound, music, and graphics is largely self-taught, and forms the foundation of his work on numerous national and international documentary projects. His style stands out for its tight, layered narrative approach, which avoids moral presumptions and observes emotion with precision, without exploiting it. The form always emerges spontaneously from the material itself: open to the spirit of the times, without being subservient to it. His editing work has received multiple nominations, including those for Loveparade – Die Verhandlung and Rise of the Killer Virus. The films he has edited have won numerous awards, including the Grimme Prize in 2017 and 2021, and the CIVIS Media Prize in 2018.
