Valentina Baronti comes from a farming and working-class family. She has a degree in contemporary history and worked as a news reporter in the Florentine radio station Novaradio and then as a journalist in public administration in a municipality in the Florentine hinterland. Since her university years, she has been involved in independent journalism, collaborating with the Florentine newspaper “L'Altra Città”, published by the Piagge community in Florence and then with the press office of the Firenze Social Forum in 2002. Since 2021 she has been earning a living as a civil servant and continues to cultivate her passion by collaborating with the independent Florentine publications “Fuori Binario” and “La Città Invisibile”. Since July 2022, she has been part of the press office of the ex-Gkn Factory Collective. She arrived at the garrison of the Florentine metalworking factory in September 2021 with the idea of writing an article for “Fuori Binario” and gradually began to take part in the workers“ struggle, offering her expertise. In May 2022, the audio documentary ”Lo Scherzo. Il caso GKN, lotta operaia del terzomillennio“, made together with Camilla Lattanzi and Gianluca Masala. At the end of January 2024, his first novel came out in bookshops: ”La Fabbrica dei Sogni', Edizioni Alegre, inspired by the Gkn workers' struggle.
