Thurston Moore to perform at DIG Festival 2019 in Riccione

13 May 2019

The curtain on the 2019 programme of DIG Festival begins to be lifted. The 4-days conference devoted to investigative journalism will take place from May 30th to June 2nd in Riccione, Italy, with the festival’s Jury chaired by international journalism icon Naomi Klein.

Every year, alongside premieres, talks and workshops held by international reporters and documentarists, DIG festival hosts a special musical event. This time we’re happy to announce that alternative rock legend Thurston Moore, co-founder of the band Sonic Youth, will play at Spazio Tondelli on June 1st. Tickets can be purchased at this link.

Moore is one of the absolute masters of avant-garde rock and has been at the forefront of the alternative rock scene since that particular sobriquet was first used to signify any music that challenged and defied the mainstream standard. Innovative guitarist and singer, Thurston Moore will play his only Italian 2019 solo show in Riccione, following the release of his latest albums “The Best Day” (2014) and “Rock’n’Roll Consciousness” (2017).

On stage right before Moore, Itpop icon Giorgio Poi will present his new LP “Smog” (2019). Poi, a multi-instrumentalist and a singer with an unique voice, graduated in jazz guitar at the Guildhall School in London. After co-founding several bands, his 2017 solo debut “Fa niente” – a collection of melancholy and psychedelic love songs chosen by Rockit as record of the year – put him at the forefront of a new wave of itpop songwriters.
