Matthew Caruana Galizia è giornalista e ingegnere informatico. Ha lavorato presso l’International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) a sei importanti inchieste: “Offshore Leaks”, “Swiss Leaks”, “Luxembourg Leaks”, “Fatal Extraction”, “Panama Papers” e “Paradise Papers”. L’ICIJ e i suoi partner hanno vinto il Premio Pulitzer nel 2017. Daphne, la madre di Matthew, è stata assassinata a Malta nel 2017 e Matthew ha lasciato l’organizzazione per creare la Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation, dedicata a ottenere giustizia per sua madre.
